Bo Connor passed on February 28, 2014, mourned, respected and admired by his fellow citizens of Indianapolis. The e-book is his story and a tribute to both Bo and the city he loved. Below Bo wrote about his book Star in the Hoosier Sky on its relesase July 2013
“Star in the Hoosier Sky” was my attempt to recapture some of the excitement of working at The Indianapolis Star f rom 1949 to 1990; years when The Star as well as the city of Indianapolis changed dramatically.
Ten years or more after retiring from The Star I decided it was finally time to try to recapture some of the years I spent there. I had saved many clippings about the major stories covered by a staff of professional reporters and editors. People in the paper’s library (we called it the morgue) were helpful, too, as were workers in the Indiana State Library and the Indiana Historic Society.
I did a lot of brain picking of co-workers, too. But much of the book is my recollection of the bright and colorful people I worked with at the paper. I thought, too, that journalism as I knew it was changing radically and I wanted to record what it was like before I-pads and Facebook and Twitter changed how our readers got their news.
